Nepenthes sibuyanensis, CAR-0450
This species comes from the slopes of Mt. Guiting-Guiting in the Philippines. It’s one of our favorites due to its toothy peristomes, waxy pitcher texture, and impressive size. The coloration of the pitcher's body ranges from cream to pink to an iridescent red. These plants are tolerant of a wide range of conditions and we’ve had it growing in our lowland, intermediate, and highland greenhouses with success. Interestingly, it seems to like to only produce lower pitchers when they are touching a surface below. Perhaps this has to do with its targeting ground prey in nature. The uppers are similar to the lowers but totally cream colored. The plants available are seed grown from an in-house grex.
